I - BAG

What makes a person unique and special, one of a kind among the billions of others? It’s the story that each of us has and the experience we gained that makes us who we are. The stories we share are those which bond us and connect us to our  friends, acquaintances and ancestors.

It doesn’t matter if the story is true. Even more, it’s the imagination that gives a story depth and uniqueness by reflecting the narrator’s inner world. Poets write down their thoughts, singers sing and artists paint to express their own view of the world. For me, it is design that gives me opportunity to tell and share my real or imaginary stories.

Each i-bag collection is inspired by a different story. It’s never only about the product - it’s the idea behind it that gives it value. And it can only come alive by sharing it.

You are more than welcome to take a story and give it a new twist. Each i-bag product gives you an opportunity to use it in numerous ways. We will not tell you how to wear it because we believe that there’s no right or wrong, true or false.

We give you the bag but it’s up to you to continue the journey. The last chapter of my story lies in your hands.

 

The bag is one of the most universal and oldest objects invented by man. Whether it's a bag for kings or vagabonds, shamans or celebrities, nomads or fashionable women, people around the world use it to carry their most important belongings.

The peasant in early rural society carried seeds, a guarantee of future crops. For the African griot, it is the power of language, a bag of words. The Native American shaman’s bag carries the creation of myths of the tribe and is a link with the sacred. And, as we know, the talent of the cunning man is to always be able to pull something new out of his bag of tricks.

   Tricks, secrets, rites, wealth and indispensable belongings: the bag is therefore a microcosm of the values, tensions, beliefs and conflicts of

   life in society.
